Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
The Jamestown Bar Association ("JBA") is located in Jamestown, New York, a city at the outlet of scenic Chautauqua Lake. Formed in 1900, the JBA is a professional organization comprised of attorneys practicing in southern Chautauqua County. The JBA membership year is September 1 to May 31 and meetings are held bi-monthly at the Robert H. Jackson Center at 305 East Fourth Street, Jamestown, New York. Speakers are invited to each meeting to address the membership on topics relevant to the practice of law. Annual events of the organization include a holiday party, a summer picnic, a luncheon in May to honor support staff of the member attorneys, continuing legal education seminars, sponsorship of the Mock Trial program and the People's Law School. As a service to the community, the JBA maintains a committee for the resolution of grievances against attorneys and a fee dispute committee. Its other committees also work to address particular needs of the community, such as the real estate committee which works with the Chautauqua County Board of Realtors on matters of common interest. The JBA is a non-profit organization and is wholly supported by member dues.
